In 2015, Amazon used the microphone, speaker and Internet connection device to create a virtual voice assistant - Alexa.
Now, GE Lighting has transformed it. This device looks a lot like a fan like Dyson Dyson, but it's really just an internet-connected desk lamp. It is paired with your phone via Wi-Fi, which controls the smart light bulb in GE's smart lighting applications, and thanks to the addition of a microphone and speakers to the base, you can also use it to talk to the Alexa voice assistant.

This little thing has become the Amazon Echo plus ring light. To wake up this smart device, just say "Alexa" and then say the problem or command, no need to control the switch.

Like other Alexa products, you can ask it to wake you up in the morning, read the news or weather forecast for the day, tell you a joke, or play music. You can also ask it to control any Alexa-compatible smart home device (including the light bulb itself, which is inevitable), or enable any Alexa third-party "skills" - essentially a new Alexa technique for voice applications.

Now, GE just calls it the C-Series GE light, although it's even better because it's a unique product. The device is expected to be available through the GE website and Amazon in the second quarter of 2017.
Not yet priced, but GE said they expect the cost of the smart luminaire to be lower than Amazon Echo, which costs $180 in the US and £150 in the UK. GE also stated that the luminaire will be launched in the United States like Echo in the United States, although it does not rule out the possibility of expanding to other countries where Alexa is available.
