[Global Scientific Report] According to foreign news reports quoted by Reuters, sources have revealed that Finnish Nokia plans to sell its submarine cable companies that support the global network.
About 1,000 people are employed by Alcatel's ASN, which is responsible for the production and maintenance of submarine cables. The company is an independent business unit under Nokia management and currently has a valuation of approximately 800 million euros (6 billion yuan). It is one of the top suppliers of the global submarine cable network and was acquired by Nokia last year.

The French government used it as a national business strategy because it not only guaranteed high-speed Internet connectivity between France and overseas territories and African countries, but also played a vital role in network monitoring and national security.
According to sources, Nokia decided to sell the ASN after negotiating with the government and stakeholders. According to Nokia, ASN is not actually Nokia's core business. Nokia is not in a hurry to reach a deal and it has not yet identified any potential buyers.
At present, ASN’s competitors include TE SubCom in the United States, Japan Electric Co., Ltd. in Japan and Fujitsu, and Huawei in China. (Internship compilation: Zhu Jie reviewer: Li Zongze)
