The Virtual Reality (VR) software solution developed by RiVR provides a realistic training environment for fire and rescue services in the United Kingdom. The program supports actual scanning using laser and HD photography to create a fully 360-degree interactive environment for use with VR head-ups.
The Leicestershire Fire Rescue Service Center has invested £50,000 to purchase software, and RiVR has used it to create a fully interactive, virtual burnout warehouse that emulates the training scenarios firefighters often come into contact with. In addition, the company also produced a number of 360-degree videos to help train fire engine pilots. Therefore, using VR as a training environment is a more cost-effective solution.
RiVR hopes to use the software throughout the UK, allowing trainees to walk around the warehouse, check the streets outside, pick up items, find evidence, assess casualties, and even hear/feel whether they still have a pulse. When all this happens, the trainer can watch the students' every move on the desktop or desktop computer and watch their interns in the form of first-person, third-person or even bird's-eye view. This means that trainers can provide real-time feedback, which is crucial to ensure effective training.
