Analysis of the characteristics of Mesh network

Compared with the single-hop 802.11 network, Mesh network has its own characteristics:

1. Load balancing, Mesh network can provide greater redundancy to facilitate load balancing. In a busy network, for example, two devices communicate with a large amount of data, and there are many nodes near each device to choose from, creating multiple paths to balance the load. The single-hop network does not have the ability to adjust dynamically.

2. Robustness, because the Mesh network is not like a single-hop network, it only relies on one node. Once a node fails or a conflict occurs, the Mesh network can continue to work, and data can also be selected to continue transmission through alternative paths.

3. Reusability of space, Mesh network can make full use of bandwidth. In a single-hop environment, all devices have to share a node. If multiple devices require access to the network at the same time, it will inevitably result in a slower speed. In the Mesh network, multiple devices can access the network at the same time, but pass through different nodes.

In short, the advantages and disadvantages of the Mesh network are as follows:

Advantages: Products that meet the 802.11 standard have been widely used, the initial investment for small-scale deployment is limited, and it is not limited to the flexibility of the wired network

Disadvantages: In order to cover a larger area, more subscription base stations (subscriber base), shared bandwidth, delay, peripheral equipment investment, hidden node problems need to be established
