Intel teamed up with Red Flag to launch in-vehicle system using Moblin platform
China Science and Technology Hongqi recently announced that it has officially developed the Hongqi in-vehicle infotainment system platform with Intel and Bluestar Technology, and has now entered the pre-installation startup stage. This in-vehicle infotainment system platform is developed based on Intel ’s open source project Moblin, and the system will run on the Intel Atom processor platform.
Zhang Jinshi, manager of the embedded department of Red Flag Software, introduced that this system platform's rapid recovery from abnormal power outages far exceeds the application requirements of ordinary PCs, and the addition of Atom chips will enable this technology to complete full commercial applications in the automotive field.
"Early next year, our products based on the Red Flag software and Intel Atom platform will be released with new cars. The launch of this product means that a new generation of IVI (vehicle) systems will be officially put into commercial use," said Dean Zhang Zike of the Bluestar Automotive Research Institute.
This is also the first time Intel has launched the Moblin platform for netbooks and car equipment in China.
