Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) continues to expand its AdvantivTM advanced television (TV) family of solutions, delivering audio processors and Class D audio power amplifiers that provide a complete advanced TV audio subsystem that allows design engineers Meet the requirements of a variety of product performance and price targets. These two devices are used to provide the key subsystem functions required for advanced TV audio equipment, including embedded processing engines to ensure high volume from small power speakers; analog interfaces for connecting input and output lines; analog broadcasts Audio decoding and speaker output; flexible, multi-format digital interface for HDMI and various terrestrial digital and satellite broadcasts, and audio and video "sound" delay error correction and synchronization.Audio processor
ADI's new ADAV4101, ADAV4312 and ADAV4322 audio processors include a powerful embedded processing engine to compensate for the shortcomings of modern ultra-thin flat-panel TVs, liquid crystal (LCD) TVs and small-sized speakers in plasma TV designs. This "Digital Audio Enhancement Engine" completes all the necessary audio signal processing required to match the high definition (HD) video quality to provide a large volume. This audio signal digital processing is accompanied by a high-performance, multi-channel, 24-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC) and digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that receives analog input signals from DVD/VCR players and set-top boxes, and drives analog audio. The signal provides power amplification for the speaker or auxiliary output device.
This audio processor offers a variety of flexible digital interfaces that support sample rate conversion, ensuring that the chip is fully compatible with HDMI audio and digital tuner interface standards. By default, the chip is loaded with a dedicated TV audio stream that includes a complete matrix switch to allow any type of input device to be connected to any type of output device.
Not only do these audio processors offer standard TV audio processing, they also support advanced audio features such as full-field equalization, analog surround sound or low frequency environments. Most of these features are provided by Analog Devices or by authorized third-party vendors such as Dolby, SRS-Labs and BBE. The audio processor enables design engineers to tailor the audio stream to specific system or customer needs. Analog Devices offers a variety of development tools, including award-winning SigmaStudioTM graphical design tools to simplify the commissioning and certification of any custom product. They also feature automatic volume control to compensate for volume changes during advertising or when switching channels, dynamic bass, multi-band equalizers, and up to 400 milliseconds (ms) audio and video memory sync delay.
Class D audio amplifier
ADI's new Class D audio amplifiers make audio processors even more attractive. The ADAU1590, ADAU1592 and ADAU1513 are dual-channel Class D amplifiers that offer the best performance in their class of audio power amplifiers. The three new amplifiers feature 90% power efficiency and 101 dB dynamic range when driving an 8 ohm (Ω) load. The ADAU1590 and ADAU1592 feature on-chip pulse density modulation (PDM) and closed-loop architectures that compensate for transmitted-to-speaker output errors by conditioning signals to ensure high-quality audio amplification. They also include an integrated sigma-delta modulator (Σ-Δ ADC) that receives the analog input signal and produces a switching pulse output signal that directly drives the speaker. The ADAU1590 and ADAU1592 feature 0.005% total harmonic distortion plus noise distortion (THD+N), providing 18 W (stereo) and 11 W (stereo) power when driving a 6 Ω load. The ADAU1592 and ADAU1513's low distortion, low noise, and excellent supply voltage rejection ratio (PSRR) capabilities combined with the optimized interface of Analog Devices' audio processors (ADAV4101/4312/4322) suppress audio noise during TV switching and eliminate The residual noise floor when the speaker volume is set to a minimum.
The ADAU1513 is a Class D power amplifier that delivers 14 W (stereo) power with 90% power efficiency when driving an 8 Ω load. The ADAU1513 is driven directly by the pulse width modulation (PWM) digital output signal of the ADAV4201, ADAV4412 or ADAV4422 audio processor. The ADAU1513 includes overtemperature protection and short circuit protection with error flag logic level outputs for connection to system microcontrollers and power stages with reset and mute control.
