The application of the basic research project “The New Rare Earth Luminescent Material of Ziguang Conversion Pure Green LED†undertaken by the Changchun Institute of Optics and Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has recently passed the expert appraisal in Changchun. Experts from the appraisal committee agreed that the technical indicators of the study reached the domestic leading level. According to reports, with the rapid improvement of LED efficiency, the continuous decline of cost and the breakthrough of blue and green LEDs, LED has become the complete three-primary lighting system in the world, LED is expanding from display and indicating devices to illumination sources. Experts predict that LED will become the third generation of illumination light after incandescent and fluorescent lamps, which will lead to a revolution in the field of lighting, and its market prospects are very broad.
In this study, Changchun Opto-mechanical Co., Ltd. developed UV-excited rare earth cerium-activated boroaluminophosphate green phosphors, and firstly prepared UV-excited green LEDs in China; in addition, UV-excited trichromatic phosphors were developed; Related materials and devices have independent intellectual property rights and have obtained national invention patents.
