After receiving the above-mentioned lawsuit, Seoul Semiconductor said that after careful analysis, the company firmly believed that it held the relevant patent technology and did not infringe the patents mentioned by Nichia.
Seoul Semiconductor said that the company's technology has been registered with more than 1,200 patents, based on the company's own proprietary technology, combined with the US UCSB (University of California Santa Barbara) SSLDC (SolidStateLightDisplayCenter), and Japan NitrideSemiconductor and other universities, research institutes and companies authorized patent technology, and through the United States Cree, Germany SRAM, Japan TOYADAGOSEI and other well-known LED chip manufacturers to establish cross-licensing agreements and strategic partnerships.
On October 10, 2007, Nichia filed a lawsuit in the Central District Court of Seoul, South Korea, claiming that Seoul Semiconductor’s blue chip for Z-power LEDP9 series white LED products infringed its patent No. 491482 in Korea and demanded Seoul Semiconductor. Compensation for infringement. In response to this, Seoul Semiconductor said that the company announced on May 18, 2007 that the P9 product was produced using the blue chip of the US SemiLED. In the case of this product, the company will respond with SemiLED.
