Panasonic layoffs or transfer to Fujitsu and IBM

According to Japanese media reports, Matsushita, Japan, is studying the cutting of about 1,500 employees from the internal information system development department to about 1,000 people. This move aims to rationalize operations and reduce labor costs. Panasonic intends to transfer this portion of its staff to Fujitsu and IBM Japan, which have business contacts, and outsource the business.

According to reports, Matsushita plans to sell its Panasonic IT solution, a subsidiary company in Gyeongseong, Osaka Prefecture, to Fujitsu, and it will also mobilize some of the employees of the "intelligence systems enterprise" that have become part of the company. Currently, it is coordinating with Fujitsu and IBM to transfer about 500 people respectively.

According to the report, Panasonic and the two companies previously had a trading relationship in the information system field. Panasonic tried to outsource most of the company's internal network research and development and security maintenance to allow the two companies to agree to receive employees.

Matsushita has suffered huge losses for the second consecutive year in fiscal 2012. Currently, it is mainly relying on loss-making departments to abandon its own practices. The stock of Panasonic Health Medical Devices, a subsidiary of the medical business, was sold to the U.S. investment fund. The semiconductor sector, which continues to lose money, will in fact also be sold to Israeli companies.
