Solid-state optical (LiDAR) sensors and intelligent sensing systems company Quanergy will work with Cisco to create an Internet of Things (IoT) solution for smart transportation.
In this collaboration, Quanergy's optical sensors and software will be integrated with Cisco's IoT data management platform KineTIc, with the goal of examining how the city can improve driver and pedestrian safety, as well as traffic flow to enhance the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). It can make streets and roads safer and promote the efficiency of pedestrians and drivers.
Quanergy and Cisco have deployed the Connected Roadway system in Las Vegas to promote pedestrian safety and are on display at CES 2018. The first intersection to deploy Connected Roadway uses Quanergy's light sensor to record pedestrian traffic, which will then track traffic such as buses and other vehicles.
Cisco's Connected Roadway system is built on the company's KineTIc IoT data management platform, which connects people, IoT devices, data, etc. to create an intelligent network infrastructure, and allows cities to use data analysis to generate new insights and make well-considered decisions. .
The collaboration will enable Quanergy's sensor, sensing software Qortex and Connected Roadway to further integrate with Cisco's advanced network capabilities. In addition, Quanergy and Cisco have a range of proof of concept (POC) programs, including vehicle counting, vehicle queue length detection, road worker safety, and path error warnings.
Quanergy's light uses the location and shape of the laser-sensing object to create a three-dimensional map that is refreshed multiple times in one second. The optical system not only detects and classifies objects, but also analyzes data under Qortex. decision making.
