Tencent digital (Leon) recently, the industry's criticism of Apple's Mac products seems a bit more. Obviously, near Apple's September conference, in addition to the iPhone 7 series, people also hope that Mac products will be updated to a greater extent. In fact, including iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and other models, update frequency lags behind Windows PCs, such as the Mac has no touch screen.
Early touch-screen computers did not achieve a good experience. However, it is clear that the PC industry is also slowly progressing, and a large number of mixed design products have gradually become the mainstay. Windows 10 has also improved the touch experience from the system level. So why is Apple ignoring touch screen computers?
Apple's product line does not require a touch screen notebook
First of all, from the product line level, Apple does not need a touch screen computer at all. The latest iPad Pro ad has repeatedly emphasized that the iPad can be a user's "PC", it can use the keyboard input, stylus graffiti, also has a split-screen multitasking mode. Although this is just a marketing case, we also know that iPad Pro can't really completely replace Windows PCs, but obviously, iPad Pro is already a modern touch screen computer in the Apple product line.
Second, Apple doesn't seem to want to incorporate touch functionality into the Mac. Although in recent years, Apple has succeeded in breaking through Macs and iOS devices through continuity and porting iOS services, they will not combine Windows's Modern interface with traditional desktops like Microsoft did. The Mac still needs some independence to make a clear distinction with the iPad. The touch screen does not actually help the Mac experience.
There may be a better solution than the touch screen
According to recent leaks of MacBook Pro spyware, Apple is likely to add an OLED touch screen for its functions, enabling message display and dynamic key functions to achieve more convenient operations. From a usage point of view, this design is actually very convenient, adding functionality while saving space, and the touch screen does not actually implement this function (most Windows touch screen computers still have separate physical function keys).
Touch screen will be the start of huge changes for Mac
As mentioned above, Apple currently has no reason to add a touch screen to the Mac. However, if the Mac supports the touch screen, it means that the Mac OS will change greatly from the bottom, such as adding a touch UI or display mode. Of course, this change should be based on the premise of not affecting the interests of the iPad. Perhaps we still need to wait for a long time.
