Wind power generation in Mengdong area exceeds supply

Recently, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region proposed in the "8337" development strategy that the autonomous region should be established as a "clean energy output base for the protection of the capital to serve the country in North China." State Grid East Inner Mongolia Electric Power Co., Ltd. is fully committed to serving the development of the autonomous region and is actively consuming wind power. Data show that on April 29, the wind power generation capacity in Mengdong reached 71.86 million kwh, and the maximum generating power of wind power was 3.36 million kilowatts. The amount of wind power generated and the maximum power generated by wind power exceeded both the power supply and the maximum power supply.

Relying on large power grids to absorb wind power is a key factor in the achievement of wind power generation in the Mengdong region. State Grid Mengdong Electric Power accelerated the construction of power grids and promoted the adoption of wind power across the entire network. In 2012, the grid network of Mengdong 4th League and the main network of Northeast Power Grid all achieved a 500 kV double-circuit network, and the intelligent stability control device in Tongxing District was also put into operation. The conditions for wind power transmission in the Mengdong region were greatly improved. Data show that in the first quarter of this year, the wind power output from the Mengdong region reached 475 million kilowatt-hours, which accounted for 40% of the wind power output from the Northeast region.

The Mengdong region is one of the eight million-kilowatt wind power bases planned by the state. According to the plan, the State Grid Corporation of China will establish a 500 kilovolt power transmission project from Tongliao Horqin to Liaoning Xinmin, and a 500 kilovolt power transmission project from Fuxin Bahrain to Liaoning Fuxin during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. Plan and construct Hulunbeier to Shandong UHV DC project to realize wind power and thermal power “bundling” delivery, with the ability to deliver 4 million kilowatts of wind power. At the same time, the State Grid Mengdong Power plans to build 500 kV wind power gathering stations and power transmission projects to guide the rational development of wind power.
