2012 domestic wind power equipment overcapacity is a foregone conclusion

Recently, the International Environmental Protection Organization Greenpeace, the China Resources Comprehensive Utilization Association's Renewable Energy Professional Committee and the Global Wind Energy Council jointly issued the "China Wind Power Development Report 2012" (hereinafter referred to as the "Report").

The "Report" pointed out that in 2011 China's major wind power equipment manufacturing industry production capacity reached more than 30GW, but in 2011 the domestic installed capacity of new wind turbines was only 18GW, which led to over 40% of domestic equipment production capacity is idle. As the unit market in 2012 is not optimistic, the total production capacity has far exceeded the domestic market demand, and the development of overseas markets is just at an experimental stage. Therefore, the overcapacity of wind power equipment in 2012 is a foregone conclusion.

According to the "Report," the main reason for overcapacity of wind power equipment is the expansion of large companies. At the same time, the fierce and disorderly competition in the Chinese wind turbine manufacturing industry led to price wars. The data shows that the price of the whole machine has dropped from 6,500 yuan/kW in 2008 to 3,700 yuan/kW in 2011, and the quotation from individual manufacturers has dropped to 3,660 yuan/kw.
