Foxconn Detective recognizes illegal employment of 14-year-old child labor

Foxconn announced an internal investigation document on October 16 that the company illegally hired some child labor, the youngest being only 14 years old. Foxconn said it has taken immediate steps to solve the problem.

Foxconn said it will "take full responsibility" for this violation. Foxconn officials also apologized for the underage student workers employed. The company also vowed to “immediately” dismiss the head of the department that hired the minor.

A high-ranking official of Foxconn, who asked not to be named, said that the company has repeatedly employed child labor, which not only violates the national laws but also violates the company's rules and regulations. However, some middle managers still take the risk to hire child labor.

Earlier, the Workers' Rights Protection Organization, China Labor Watch, released a media document revealing that Foxconn employs minors between the ages of 14 and 16 as interns.
