AUO held a corporate briefing to announce its own settlement of the third quarter of 2012 financial statements. The total consolidated turnover was 102.88 billion yuan (NTD, the same below), an increase of 8% over the second quarter. The third quarter consolidated net loss after tax was 16.47 billion yuan, of which the net loss attributable to shareholders of the parent company was 16.275 billion yuan, and the basic loss per share in the third quarter was 1.84 yuan.
AUO's total shipments in the third quarter were approximately 33.2 million units, up 4.6% from the second quarter. Small and medium-sized shipments were approximately 42.2 million units, an increase of 11.1% from the second quarter. Looking back at the third quarter, with the gradual improvement in panel supply and demand, the average sales price of TV panels gradually picked up, the company's capacity utilization rate gradually increased, and the inventory turnover days decreased significantly.
The reasons for the worse-than-expected improvement in profitability are as follows: Focusing on long-term competitiveness, the company continues to cultivate innovative technologies, and it has achieved initial success in the development of new products and customers.
