The second level of human consciousness thinking is C1, which involves making decisions after summing up a large number of thinking orders, and considering the possibility of diversification. Researchers believe that thinking ability can temporarily dominate consciousness and help guide a variety of behaviors.

C1 conscious thinking occurs in the early years of humans and animals. Scientists have noticed that thirsty elephants know how to position and travel straight to the nearest source of water, even 50 kilometers away. Decisions like this require complex neural circuit structures to aggregate information from the environment and memory, pick the best choice from a set of available options, stick to the decision over time, and coordinate multiple operations, such as : Navigating on terrain to achieve its goals.

For humans and other primates, the cerebral prefrontal cortex serves as a hub for information processing, and many of the behaviors of C1 conscious decision making are directed through the prefrontal cortex of the brain. The second level of human consciousness thinking is C2, which involves “post-cognitive ability” or monitors one's own thinking and computational ability. C2 level conscious thinking is a subjective feeling of certainty or error, which will help people to recognize mistakes, correct them, and generate curiosity. This mechanism will drive people to discover information they have little or no knowledge of before.

Scientists have noticed that some robots have reached the C2 level of thinking ability, they can monitor their progress and learn how to solve problems. The researchers found that magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings associated with "post-cognitive ability" are closely related to the prefrontal cortex of the human brain.

All in all, the researchers believe that human consciousness may stem from a set of special computational instructions, Hakwan Lau said: "Once we can clarify the difference between human consciousness and subconsciousness in computational terms, these computational terms are not difficult to code in a computer.
