Through "Hi-Fi", I want to share with you some of my experiences in the design and layout of the listening room. In 1999, I moved into a two-bedroom, low-rise commercial house, and specially designed an audio-visual room during the renovation. At that time, the house was fancy, mainly because the two rooms had a practical area of ​​nearly 14 square meters and were square, not the kind of strange-shaped room type, which was more suitable for the audio-visual room. According to the entry and exit, one of the rooms was designed by me as an "audio room."
The power supply, walls, ceilings, floors and doors have been specially treated. The power supply of the separate circuit is completely separated from the other power circuits, and a separate grounding treatment is performed to prevent power interference from other electrical appliances to the audio equipment. When burying the power cord, it is considered to be isolated from other wires. The power cable is buried in the wall through the iron pipe to shield. A thin wall tape is placed in the upper part of the wall to increase the interface damping of the wall to absorb the high frequency of the part. The lower half is designed as a secondary residual diffusion system and a low frequency common shock solution system. The secondary residual diffusion system is glued to the wall skirt by 2CM, 4CM, 6CM thick wood strips and then fixed on the wall skirt, which is mainly used to diffuse one reflection wave and increase the diffusion effect. The low-frequency absorption system is fixed on the wall with 5.5CM thick wooden keel, then inserted into the glass sound-absorbing cotton, and then sealed with a 5MM thick splint. The mechanical energy is converted into heat energy by the principle of thin plate vibration, which is mainly used to resolve the low-frequency co-seismic. . At the corner of the wall, a circular diffuser is also produced by the principle of thin plate vibration and arc diffusion, which is used to eliminate the low frequency standing wave at the corner. The ceiling is suspended with wooden keel and plasterboard, and the inside is also filled with glass wool to prevent the neighbors from being upstairs when the volume is too high. The door is made into a hollow door, the foam layer is filled in the interlayer, and a soft sound absorbing material is added on the door panel to provide a good sound insulation effect. The floor is of an overhead type, because the overhead floor will have a negative impact on the vibration of the speaker, so I filled the cement under the position of the speaker and the wooden joist on the floor to make the speaker down to earth. The place where I originally entered the patio from the landing door was slightly modified. I used bricks to build a wall around the balcony from the bottom of the balcony. The location of the whole balcony is where I placed the audio equipment. The main reason for placing the audio rack like this is to consider three points:
1. Whether you use a projection or a color TV to play movies and TV shows will not interfere with each other. In the standard audio-visual environment, the screen is in the middle of the front of the room. If you use a projector or color TV to watch movies and TV programs alone, there will be no problem, but if you sometimes use a projector to watch with a color TV, the problem will come. My projection screen uses a 100-inch wall-mounted curtain curtain with a height of 1.9 meters. If a set of audio equipment racks and a wide-screen color TV are placed in front of the screen, then 1/3 of the projection screen will be blocked by the equipment rack and the wide-screen color TV, unless the equipment rack and the wide-screen color TV are placed on the projection. Behind the curtain. When the projection screen is pulled down, the projection TV can be viewed normally, and the wide screen color TV can be normally viewed when the projection screen is pulled up. The balcony I designed is the ideal place to place equipment racks and wide screen color TVs.
2. The effect of the sound frame is better. I didn't lay the floor on the floor of the balcony. Considering the vibration of the sound frame, I specially laid granite plates on the ground. Granite is high in strength and is a good product for soundproofing of audio equipment. It is much better than wooden flooring. If there is no recessed position on the balcony to give me the audio rack, I can only put the audio rack in the room. If the audio frame is placed directly on the wooden floor, on the one hand, the shock absorber nail under the sound frame will poke the wooden floor, and on the one hand, the vibration effect of the wooden floor is not very good. This is the second reason I chose to place the audio stand on the balcony.
3. The seismic equipment itself needs to be earthquake resistant. The discerning enthusiasts will work hard on the suspension of the audio equipment. When doing a full set of suspension measures, they will consider placing the equipment in another space that is isolated from the listening environment. Because the vibration of the sound wave will also affect the equipment itself. When a set of audio equipment is placed in the listening room, the vibration of the sound wave will cause the shock of the outer casing of the equipment, and the sound quality will be deteriorated. When the equipment is placed in another space that is isolated from the listening environment, the vibration of the sound wave cannot affect the equipment itself, and there is no deterioration of the sound quality. Although the balcony and the audio-visual room are two connected spaces, I can add two separate spaces to the isolated space by adding shielding material between the two spaces. Considering the beauty and practicality, I chose to hang the velveteen floor curtains between the balcony and the audio-visual room. Although the velvet floor-to-ceiling curtains can't isolate the sound waves 100%, they can absorb and dissolve a large part of the frequency band.
After the decoration project was completed, the commissioning project began immediately. After the equipment was officially moved into the new home, I tested and adjusted my audio-visual room. When I first started the sound, I found that the reverberation time in the room was a little longer, which may be related to the reflection of a large area of ​​the floor. The most direct solution is to lay a thick carpet on the floor. After the carpet was laid, it was tested again, with some effect, but the reverberation time was a little longer. Then, some concave and convex sound-absorbing sponges are attached to the corners of the ceiling and a reflective position, and some concave-shaped sound-absorbing sponges are adhered to the secondary reflections of the side walls, and then the corners are easily generated. A cylindrical sound absorbing column is added. The problem of a slightly longer reverberation time was solved. The adjusted audio-visual room has basically met my original design goals, can meet the requirements of HI-FI and HI-VI, and can satisfy my ears.
