Mixed networking is an inevitable trend

Recently, at the China International Information and Communication Exhibition, Li Chunting, vice president of Shanghai Bell Co., Ltd. and head of the Wireless Capability Center, demonstrated and explained Shanghai Bell's hybrid networking of TDD/FDD. Li Chunting stated that in China, the government allocates 2.6G of the entire 190MB of very large bandwidth directly to TD-LTE, so TDD's resources are very rich. This lays a foundation for the hybrid networking of TDD and FDD.

During the interview, Li Chunting emphasized that hybrid networking is an inevitable trend, but in the near future may be a strategy based on the frequency planning of each operator, including the government's strategy for frequency planning. This is an inevitable trend, but it may be temporary in the near future. There is no definitive policy or regulatory approval.

TDD has a bandwidth of 190M. Traditional GSM and WCDMA are traditional symmetrical symmetric resources. However, FDD now has relatively tight resources in China. Unless the operator wants to clear frequencies of 2G and 3G, this is a strategy for operators. His operating income is mainly dependent on 2G, 3G, or fast 2G, 3G emptying, the main business moved to 4G. This is also related to government policies.

According to the current situation, for a new technology such as TD-LTE, Shanghai Bell also has a great advantage of the LTE hybrid network strategy, the strategy is divided into three steps. The first stage is to make a relatively wide but relatively thin network, pay attention to coverage, and quickly enable LTE to attract end-users nationwide so that this technology can be commercialized and deployed quickly. Large, but thin networks, because in the early stages of absorbing users, its data traffic will not have much bottlenecks.

In the second phase, to make this network thick, the first step is to be large and thin. The second step is to thicken this network. Shanghai Bell has done some relatively innovative concepts of a three-dimensional network, that is, using a hierarchical network. The structure, making this network thick, can provide very broadband data traffic in hotspots, enabling every LTE end user to truly feel the upgrading of technology.

In the third phase, we must deepen this network and use more new technologies, such as carrier aggregation, CAMP, and MRO, to make this network more perfect. This is the strategy of Shanghai Bell on LTE networks. In the second and third phases, hybrid networking will bring more advantages.
