What is the reason for the low insulation of the three-phase asynchronous motor? How to deal with it?

Three-phase asynchronous motors are very easy to have low insulation during shutdown or maintenance, which makes the three-phase asynchronous motors unable to start. 1. Reason

Long-term operation, long-term storage or in a standby state, if the insulation resistance value does not meet the requirements of the regulations, or the insulation resistance is equal to zero, it indicates that the insulation of the motor is poor. The reasons are generally as follows:

1. The motor is damp. Due to the humid environment, water droplets fall into the motor, or cold air in the outdoor ventilation duct invades the motor, which makes the insulation damp and reduces the insulation resistance.

2. The motor winding is aging. Mainly appear in the motor with a long running time, the winding should be returned to the factory for re-painting or re-winding if the winding is aging, and replace with a new motor if necessary.

3. Excessive dust on the windings, or serious oil leakage from the bearings, and oil stains on the windings, resulting in reduced insulation resistance.

4. Poor insulation in the lead wires and the junction box. Re-wrap and wire.

5. The conductive powder dropped by the abrasion of the slip ring or electric brush falls into the winding, causing the rotor insulation resistance to decrease.

6. The insulation is mechanically damaged or chemically corroded, causing the winding to be grounded.

2. Treatment method

1. After the motor is stopped, the heater needs to be started in a humid environment, and when the motor is stopped, in order to prevent moisture condensation, the anti-cold heater needs to be started in time to heat the air around the motor to slightly higher than the ambient temperature and drive the moisture inside the machine.

2. Strengthen the monitoring of motor temperature operation, and take timely cooling measures for the motor with high temperature to prevent the winding from accelerating aging due to high temperature.

3. Make a maintenance account for the motor, and clean the motor windings within a reasonable maintenance period.

4. Strengthen the technical training for maintenance personnel. Strictly implement the inspection and acceptance system for the maintenance package.

All in all, for a motor with poor insulation, we should first clean it, and then check whether the insulation is damaged. If there is no damage, dry it. After drying, test the insulation voltage, if it is still low, use the test method to find out the fault point for maintenance.
