Dissipated power on Vishay DTO25 PCB is more than 3W

Vishay Intertechnology announced the release of its new AEC-Q200 certified 25W thick film power resistor, the DTO25, in a small, surface mount TO-252 (DPAK) package. For automotive, industrial and defense applications, the Vishay Sfernice DTO25 saves more space than the previous generation, with more than 3W of dissipated power on the PCB and a wide range of resistance.

Dissipated power on Vishay DTO25 PCB is more than 3W

DTO25 is a non-inductive device with resistance values from 0.016 Ω to 700 kΩ. Its dimensions are 8.2mm x 7.3mm and 2.8mm. It can withstand 10 times more energy than competing components in the DPAK package. - 5 kW power for a 5 second pulse and 10 J energy for a 0.1 second pulse.

The devices released today have good long-term reliability for power supplies, load resistors, buffers, power conversion, and pre-charging and discharging in battery management systems for gas-fired hybrid and pure electric vehicles, missile control panels, and UPS. In these applications, resistors allow designers to implement multiple chip resistors in a single device, saving cost, simplifying layout and reducing the size of the final product.

The junction-to-case thermal resistance of the DTO25 resistor is 5 °C/W at 25W and +25°C. The standard temperature coefficient of the resistor is 150ppm/°C and the standard tolerance is ±1% to ±10%. The specified operating temperature is -55 ° C ~ +150 ° C. The device is RoHS compliant, has a moisture sensitivity rating of 1, and can withstand +270°C soldering temperatures for up to 10 seconds.
