Francesca Rosella and Ryan Genz, designers from London's CuteCircuit, first proposed this idea and immediately put it into practice. Recently, they launched a series of InfiniTshirt products, which can achieve a full-color screen of 1024p pixels on clothes through a compiled program.
Rosella says the latest outfits they've designed will give users a true interactive experience. With the specially developed fabrics of CuteCircuit, they can embed microphones, miniature cameras, accelerometers and speakers on their bodies. These devices allow clothes to play video at 25 frames per second, and when the picture is moving, the effect is very beautiful.
The entire suite of application control programs is called tshirtOS, and users can control visual effects, images, text, and more with an iPhone with a specific app installed. These products are currently in the early stages of development, and the cost per piece is very high, with each InfiniTshirt product costing £850. But they believe that once mass production is achieved, costs will be reduced rapidly.
The application of tshirtOS is also very broad, not only can be integrated on T-shirts, shirts and other clothing, like high-end women's fashion, mini skirts and even wallets. It can not only bring amazing results, but merchants can also use it to push advertising copy content.
At this year's I/O conference, Google launched a very interesting concept project that turned clothing into a touch screen. This technology happens to complement the tshirtOS. If the two companies have the intention to cooperate, I believe that a product that subverts traditional clothing will soon be launched.
