Global LED production value is expected to reach US$8.25 billion in 2010

Recently, DigiTimes released a research report that benefiting from the increased demand in the LED TV market, this year's led output value increased by 55.6% year-on-year, achieving rapid growth. The global LED output value is expected to reach US$8.25 billion in 2010. The company further expects LED TV shipments to increase 10 times year-on-year in 2010.

The company said that thanks to the rise of LED TV and the gradual replacement of traditional lighting technology by LED lighting, global LED production will maintain an annual growth rate of more than 25% in the three years from 2011 to 2013.

From the current market situation, although the luminous efficiency of LED lighting can be comparable to traditional fluorescent lamps, LED lamps are still unpopular because of the high cost. Obviously, unless the government provides subsidies or consumers realize that the total cost of LED lighting is high, but has the advantages of long service life and reduced carbon emissions, LED lighting is still difficult to popularize.

It is understood that the DigiTimes research report is based on the supply chain of Taiwan, South Korea and Japan, and an analysis of the analysis of government policy orientations in various regional markets around the world.
