Toshiba will shut down part of its production capacity in Japan's four lighting factories to mainland China

Toshiba’s lighting equipment company (Toshiba Lighting & Technology) issued a press release on the 11th to announce that it plans to close four factories that manufacture lighting related products within this year (before the end of March 2013) in order to enhance cost competitiveness. TLT has a total of 7 factories in Japan.

TLT stated that the targets for this plan are the Changjing Plant (which mainly manufactures LED bulbs and special-purpose incandescent bulbs), the Tsukuba Plant (which mainly produces residential lighting fixtures), and the Ibaraki Plant (which mainly manufactures lighting metal parts and resin parts). ) And Yamagata Plant (mainly producing lighting power supply circuits).

TLT pointed out that after the above four factories are closed, their production capacity will be shifted to the Lunxun Plant and production base in China, “Harrison Toshiba Lighting (Kunshan)”. According to the Nikkei report, in order to increase cost competitiveness, the TLT Japan plant will mainly produce special order products in the future, and general lighting products will be moved to production in mainland China. The Nikkei pointed out that TLT plans to increase its revenue to 260 billion yen in 2014 (2011 revenue of 193.6 billion yen).
