January-April National Sale of 23.43 Million Home Appliances to the Countryside

In January-April, sales of home appliances to the countryside (excluding Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, and Qingdao) totaled 23.34 million units, which achieved sales of 61.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 16.4% and 6.7% respectively. In April, sales of home appliances to rural areas totaled 5.35 million units, with sales of 14.32 billion yuan, an increase of 135.1% and 141.9% year-on-year, respectively. This was mainly due to the impact of the adjustment of the identity card policy, sales and sales in April 2011. The amount is relatively small. As of the end of April 2012, the country has sold 241 million units of home appliances to the countryside, achieved sales of 567.49 billion yuan, and issued subsidies of 66.19 billion yuan.

From January to April, from the sales regions, the three provinces of Hebei, Anhui, and Jiangsu ranked top three in sales, which together accounted for one-third of the total sales of home appliances to the countryside; from the perspective of product categories, the sales of color TV sets and refrigerators exceeded 100 percent. Billion yuan, accounting for 56% of the total sales of home appliances to the countryside; from the perspective of enterprises, Haier, Hisense and Changhong rank the top three sales, which are respectively 7.768 billion yuan, 5.296 billion yuan and 4.248 billion yuan, which together account for household appliances. 28.1% of total rural product sales.
