In the system architecture of the Internet of Things, the network layer is a bridge for implementing sensory delivery and application instructions. As shown in Figure 1. The vast majority of wired networks are done by Ethernet . Therefore, Ethernet is one of the most common communication methods in the future, and the Ethernet interface is an essential interface for all devices.

How to quickly implement the Ethernet interface is a problem that all hardware vendors have to face. For example, a smart street lamp manufacturer needs to make a Zigbee to Ethernet gateway for remote monitoring of street lights, as shown in Figure 2.

But engineers don't have Ethernet design experience. So they face five major problems:
(1) R&D engineers need to re-select the hardware platform and learn Ethernet programming. To relearn the development of ARM9 and Linux operating systems, seriously affecting the progress of product development;
(2) Stability cannot be guaranteed. The new platform takes a long time to debug from development to stability, resulting in the loss of business opportunities.
(3) Performance cannot meet the application requirements. The stability of the Ethernet protocol stack and operating system requires engineers with rich experience. Otherwise, it is easy to cause problems such as crashes, lost numbers, and errors.
(4) The volume is excessively increased, which affects the installation size. Using platforms such as ARM9, it is necessary to increase RAM, Flash, Ethernet PHY, etc., which seriously increases the board size;
(5) The cost has increased significantly. The use of ARM9 and other platforms requires the use of more than 4-6 layers of PCB, the need to increase RAM, Flash, PHY and other components, the need to hire high-paying Linux engineers, and these masters need to maintain, greatly increasing the company's operating costs.
